<p>2 teaspoons Baking Powder</p>
<p>1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda</p>
<p>1/2 teaspoon Salt</p>
<p>1/2 cup Shortening</p>
<p>2 Eggs</p>
<p>1 cup Mashed Bananas</p>
<p>1/2 cups Chopped Nuts</p>
<p>1/2 cups Chopped California Dates</p>
<p>Mix flour , baking powder, baking soda and salt thoroughly.  In a separate bowl, mix sugar , shortening and eggs until light and fluffy.  Blend in mashed bananas , chopped dates and nuts.  Add dry ingredients and stir until smooth.  Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a 9 x 5 loaf pan for an hour ( or until firmly set in center of pan).</p>
<p>Cool on rack in oven for ten ( 10) minutes, and then remove from pan.</p>
